Autumn Tour: No sleep till Kalafat!

2 continents, 9 countries, 20 cities, a good number of rivers and unfortunately 9 currencies!

Avid readers of this blog (surely there are some? Mother?) may have noticed many of my recent posts were about events I’m attending, presenting, moderating, facilitating or other business-like jargon verbs and noun-verbs.

This entry combines (and links to) all of the entries into a single posting (a la Tripit?).

I start (this week) with a visit to the Czech Republic for a client meeting and a meeting at the British Embassy. Then I have a weekend of sight-seeing in Prague and Bohemia including Český Krumlov, České Budějovice (yep, Budweiser town – will they have milk? :0 ), Tabor and Karlštejn.

Then I fly to Moscow for further client and embassy meetings, before I join the Moscow to St Petersburg car rally via Tver and Novgorod. In St Petersburg I’m attending the Translation Forum Russia, presenting a keynote and running 2 Selling Translations® workshops in conjunction with ProVerbum.

The next day I head to Warsaw to present a keynote and moderate the closing ‘Warsaw Pact debate’ at TM Europe. Immediately after which I catch an evening flight to Skopje, to run a short workshop at the ProZ conference.

I have a day off in Skopje to enjoy the sights, before leaving for Sofia, with hopefully a short-stop over in Kočani on the way. Following a meeting in Sofia I travel to Vidin and then a very short journey to Kalafat! My first time in Romania!

After returning to Sofia I’ll fly back to the UK to take my Open University English Language exam and present at the Coventry International Trade Team’s International Communications Seminar.

The after a few days of catch-up I fly to Wiesbaden to jointly facilitate the CSA “Super Charge Your Sales Strategy!” workshop for senior managers and owners of translation companies. This takes place on the 17th of October just before tekom, where I will be moderating a panel about Cloud Technology in the translation industry.

I have to leave tekom early on the last day to fly back to St Peterburg to present at The Translation Strategies conference in Novgorod, before returning to the UK for a few days.

After which I plan to attend the Asian Language Resources Workshop, IJCNLP 2011 (8-13 November, 2011) in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I then have a week of catch up (IOW writing reports) before attending another ISO meeting and then moderating during a conference in Malmö, Sweden (more details to follow).

The ‘work’ events diary is then clear until January when I’m presenting at the NWTN’s group ‘Boost Your Business’ day in Manchester.

It would be great to meet some of you at the various events. I’ll be the guy wondering what to blog about, so any suggestions are welcomed (always)!

à bientôt
Doug!
